Information Modeling captures the key relationships among entities within a system. An Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) is a synonomous term describing an Information Model (IM). The task of Information Modeling logically precedes the task of enterprise MIB design.

Our Information Modeling services include:

  • Collaboration with client subject matter experts to establish a baseline of system concepts
  • Creation of UML class diagrams that model:
    • class entities within a system
    • relationships between entities
    • multiplicty and dynamics of each entity
    • attributes and operations exposed by each entity
  • Rigorous review and revision of the Information Model

The Network Management Research Group (NMRG) has published RFC3444, “On the Difference between Information Models and Data Models”
